The TIBUS Bus Station was established in 1995 in agreement with the Municipality of Rome as a facility dedicated to managing national and international bus lines departing from or passing through the city of Rome. Following the agreement signed in 1999, the station’s infrastructure was developed, reaching full operational capacity in May 2002. Since then, the service has been provided continuously, 24 hours a day.
It was also among the first bus stations of its kind in Italy.
The original project, primarily funded by private capital, aimed to address the longstanding issue of bus parking congestion in Piazza della Repubblica.
Today, TIBUS serves as a crucial transport hub for the city. Located near Roma Tiburtina railway station, the metro, urban bus stops, taxi stands, and the frequent metropolitan train to Rome Fiumicino International Airport, it represents a strategic point for arrivals and departures.
Currently, the bus station employs over 70 staff members dedicated to ensuring passengers receive all necessary services for their travel needs, including:
Continuous security service provided by armed security personnel and a high-resolution digital video surveillance system monitoring internal and adjacent areas.
A 24/7 operations room managing bus traffic.
Five ticket offices that also serve as information points.
Restroom facilities.
Daily cleaning services with regular staff presence across platforms and station areas.
Assistance for disabled passengers through the activation of the PRM point (Point for Persons with Reduced Mobility).
Reserved parking spaces for disabled individuals and expectant mothers.
Online information services accessible not only to station users but also to anyone in need, via the website, Facebook page, Messenger chatbot, and mobile application.
Real-time arrival and departure monitors.
Free Wi-Fi service.
And much more…….
